Magical lights! Something in me seems to think lights have to be plugged in and switched on. Nature's own luminescence is always a kind of wonder!

We didn't have fireflies in Washington, either. Or red Cardinals.
Two tiny advantages Illinois has
over summer in the Cascade foothills:
Fireflies and the sweet silver song
of the Cardinal sir as he signals
his demure brown lady that
he's found strawberries.
