Re: Re: Re:
I'm sure you get plenty of sun, shamasehar, but as you probably know, too much of anything is not necessarily good! However, something tells me that you're well aware of the concept of moderation, which includes your diet. Even if you don't drink milk, it appears you have all of your tracks covered . . .

Re: Re:
Well JimmyA there are no bones in my diet so that makes me a true vegetarian 😊How can you eat fish and be a vegetarian 😳I like cottage cheese and other byproducts of milk so hopefully that makes up for all deficiency and not to forget the Sun,it's an important source of vitamin D and we have plenty of it all through the year.

Re:
I understand perfectly, shamasehar, although one thing about vegetarianism that had always confused me ( even though my wife is also a vegetarian ). Many vegetarians do eat fish, and believe they're avoiding meat. But isn't a fish an animal, and aren't you technically still eating the 'meat' on of animal? That's the way I look at it. It's a shame you don't drink milk ( and I only say that because I love it so ). But as long as you have other sources of those same vitamins, minerals and calcium, I'm sure you'll be alright! And I can only assume that there are no bones in your diet at all . . . !

Re:
Sorry, C C T! I didn't mean to put you off those little 'sources of sunshine.' In fact, people can eat whatever they wish to eat. And I don't think they meant toes ( although I've never heard of sardines or salmon actually having toes anyway ). No, I think they wrote bones because they meant bones! And even if it is a part of a scientific nutrtional chart, I still ain't eatin' 'em . . .

Re: JimmyA
I'm not quite sure what you mean, Bill, or what you may be referring to. Could this be an indication that milk in general doesn't quite agree with you . . . ?

Tinned Salmon bones if one can call them bones are soft I don't think they mean actual bones, I think they mean toes it is a misprint.Jimmy Now you have put me off of the stack of sardines I have in the cupboard I used to swallow them as a source of sunshine.

Re:
That's the way to do it, chuck! After working out in the yard, some people like a tall glass of cold beer, while others might prefer a glass of iced tea. Me, I head right for the milk! As far as I'm concerned, it goes with everything . . .

Re: Jimmy
It sounds, Naut, as though you do have a pretty balanced diet, and good for you for laying off the red meat. And although you're not really a milk fan, I can see that you do have other sources for those same vitamins, minerals and calcium. It still looked odd to see a 'nutritional chart' listing with bones with their choices for other sources of calcium. I still won't eat them though . . .

Re:
Good for you, FSI. Believe it or not, I've never eaten a sardine in my life either! I'm not a big fish fan in general anyway, but eating a whole tiny fish, eyes and bones and all, is SO unappealing to me! Tilapia is okay, if it's cooked right and served with a nice side . . .

Re:
Well, Kabu, like I wrote, there are obviously many different sources of vitamins, minerals and calcium, and it usually comes down to what tastes you like, and which you don't. I like various cheeses too ( not really a big yogurt fan ), but there's nothing like a big glass of cold milk for me! I'm glad your bones are strong, and that osteoporosis is not something you have do deal with! Unfortunately, I've seen several women around my town hunched over with humps on their backs, and it is a sorry and distressing sight indeed . . .

Jimmy
I eat a lot of fish, including sardines and salmon, and very little meat! I make various kinds of sardine salads (maybe I'll post some of my favourites recipes in future), and of course they always include the bones. I do remove the bones from salmon, though. As far as milk is concerned, well, it's okay (even essential!) in latte, but beyond that I pass. On the other hand, I also like a great varity of cheeses, as well as yoghurt and even sour cream at times...

Like you, I was taught never to eat the bones of any animal...As for me, I have never had a sardine and rarely eat salmon. Tilapia is the only fish I reguarily eat. On the milk front, I drink skim milk.

My bones are strong Jim because i grew up on a farm where we milked cows and mother grew vegetables and we killed our own mutton. Plain healthy balanced diet. BUT I hated milk...It always made me sick. Still does ...so I ate much cheese and yogurt and such. Since I came here though we have 1% milk and I can tolerate it on my cereal each day so no osteoporosis for me. Also I adore fish and crustation foods.
