Yet another list that could be a mile long. FSI's choice of Ted Williams is a good one, but I'm going to be partial once again and say Don Mattingly. He started his Yankee career in '82, just as the Yankees were more or less in their decline after winning back-to-back World Series titles in '77 and '78, and then ended his career in '95, just before the Yanks went on their incredible run, winning 4 of the next 5 World Series. I always felt he was deserving of being on at least one of those teams . . .
