A lovely flower. It was fun reading the poem but the baker will have a difficult time finding a woman who meets all the demands.😊

Hope you are doing fine. You may be too busy watering plants. Please take it easy.

I suppose Ciel the decision is made for the wrong reason. One can look back and judge discretely.Really one should study the parents. Or marry the next door neighbor.

Re: Re: The baker wants a slave, not a wife, I'm thinking.

I guess it's harder to measure emotional torment. But that, too, and both wives and husbands. Why do people not know how to choose a partner for making a life together? It's sad.

Re: The baker wants a slave, not a wife, I'm thinking.

Do you believe this Ciel in todays paper it said that 1 in 4 married women suffer some form of physical torment . I assume the other 3 men in 4 receive the same. Yes very Bunny.

Re:TAPS

My favourite hoe is the one my mother used to use , Eventually she kept losing it in her garden, It has three sides and is as light as a feather, Your Dad's was just the one to work with a real good used tool.

I just realized when you mentioned the hoe, why I love all of your gardening posts.  Reading your work, I see my Dad out in his garden with his hoe.  Once when I was there watching him hoe his tomato plants he stopped and said to me, "See this hoe," it was a little skinny blade from being sharpened so often for so many years, "when I die, I want it put in the casket with me."  When he passed away, I would have done it for him, but my mother was horrified and turned thumbs down on that one.

Stalls.

We used to sell plants outside our house, but i was too worried about people tripping over the boxes.  Steve.

posted by slam on June 26, 2014 at 7:14 AM | link to this | reply

I would think that the stalls being on the pavement would be better! Less dirt and dust to track onto the stock! And where do you find sun screen that's 50 strength? The best we could find was 30! Being a very fair-skinned white boy with north-eastern European routes, I would actually prefer 100 strength! I hate sunburn . . .

The baker wants a slave, not a wife, I'm thinking.

I'd use a taser for the buns. It's the idea current-shooter.

Re: Your baker shoots the currants into the bread? How odd.

Trade secret I expect Pat perhaps they ration them out never seem to be many in a currant bun. Yes sweet peas are a real good seller a bit difficult to grow in the ordinary garden They really need to be planted very early in the year.

Re: jeansaw

Crikey Jean the price of plants it is far better to grow from seed sadly I planted 200 Cosmos plants but I have found they do not last in water neither do the Zinnias so they will have to be pulled up. The chrysanthemums are coming out too early but I might get flush of flowers. Wait until you read the ratcatcher's placard.

CCT

If you stick a big plastic owl on a pole next to your peas, the starlings probably won't come near - at least for a bit...And now I finally learned how currants and raisins and such end up in buns - I've always wondered about that...

what a lovely flower such colors I really love it and must try to grow some different colored ones next year...perhaps. I did some mowing today...No one you pay does the job that you really want...

it is to hot here to garden now, but come the end of august i will get ready to plant again. be care and drink lots of water and yes sunscreen.

things are constantly changing, and i am trying to become friends with change.

i do think that baker would have been better off not telling the women what he thought a bakers wife life should be like, poor fella might get lonely.

posted by jeansaw on June 25, 2014 at 5:11 PM | link to this | reply

Haha! The baker is being very frank about the kind of lady he wants! Yes, be careful in that heat CCT. I would send you some of our rain if I could - people are being flooded out of homes here.

Your baker shoots the currants into the bread? How odd.

Does he do it with a pea-shooter (a long straw) or if he uses a shotgun, it must be difficult to pick out the little beads of lead...  But the sweetpeas, I do understand how they sell so quickly, such fresh and fragrant little blooms.

posted by Pat_B on June 25, 2014 at 1:48 PM | link to this | reply

Sounds like hard work going on there. Wish I could give you some sweet peas. I loved the Backer's advertisement. Don't over do in that heat and humidity it can be tough.
