In my experience I have remained friends with a few x partners. Apart from my first husband who had a jealous 2nd wife. We had no kids only lots of memories. When a relationship is over it really is possible to move on but you both have to do it and understand that your needs are different.Â

I know quite a few couples who have separated and remained friends. Some have been married, some with children, some short term, etc. I think it is only an ideal outcome if you value emotional progression, and is not appropriate for all couples. I've remained friends with two of my more significant ex-partners and was, in fact, a bridesmaid for one of their weddings. Was happy to do it.

My first marriage because we had children together and they came first for us both and also no need for hate, the marriage just died of exhaustion
