Re: Naut,
I think it is complicated, but not insoluble. There are interests who don't want it solved.
In the wilderness areas, in areas where hunting is a mainstay of life, guns are a necessity. But not all kinds of guns. People who hunt don't need guns that are only for hunting people. They don't need guns that can spray bullets by the hundreds.
They want them. They think they might need them someday. They think they should have the right to have them. They are just possibly wrong.

It's a very complex issue, not just the fault of the 'gun lobby'! I am glad that in this country there's no need for owning, let alone carrying, guns for protection; but if I lived in certain areas of the U.S., I too would probably own one...

Guns have been a big problem in Baltimore City, where I live.

Unfortunately my friend, our brand of freedom deplores common sense.

Good post. I can't believe there are as many guns around as there are, and they are so easy for people to get.

One would not get far with a gun here Ciel or a knife I always fancied a shooting walking stick, but I don't think they are still around.

Re: Kabu,
Sweet Kabu, I don't think we can end the problem, but surely we can make it less devastating! How many children dead will it take? The gun thing is an insanity in this country, fueled by the gun lobby who play on the greed of legislators.

Ciel ...
Brave words darling...I can only say that of course those who really want to kill will find a way...but we have really tight laws in Australia since a tragedy in Tasmania back in the 90's. a gun recall and all fire arms have to be registered and in a locked vault. yes the badies still get guns for the drug wars...who cares.
