Very interesting post. Love reading about the good old days (or even the bad old days).

Quite a large amount of coverage in our paper shows models with dresses I would not wish to be seen dead in . I have never seen the like on the street and I wonder if women buy them and then just hang them in the wardrobe or wherever they hang them. Also large cartoons of our prominent politicians, I rarely know what they mean.I suppose this is freedom of speech these days.

Pat
In the 'good old days' there were 'backroom deals' done even under 'sunshine laws.' And there are a host of influences having a bearing on editorial decisions, way beyond those dictated by 'corporate interests'; in many cases editors are deeply committed to opposing corporate interests. In this country a paper's political orientation depends to a considerable degree on the particular School of Journalism the editors and editorial writers attended, among many other factors...And TV? Well, don't get me started...

Journalism may not be dead
but it surely is going through a phase of awful sickness. I call what I see on CNN and other so-called news channels, Bimbo Journalism.
