Re: Pat
Well all beauty is fairly transient, perhaps we would tire of it eventually. The bud opens and it is ours to praise or dismiss.

Re: Jimmy
Yes Jimmy there is a limit to everything. I like to eat strawberries straight from the plant it is a bit wearisome having them cooked for lunch afterwards. Sad about the fields it happens everywhere.

Re: Kabu
Well Kabu I grow for the joy of growing them and then Archie sells them for the joy of selling them. As long as it makes you happy you won't go to seed.

Re: jeansaw
I think the grower allows for a few to be eaten, if not he must be living in a different world. Yes I like seeing the plants grow, we have had it so dry that they seem to take a long time this year. Good for hay-making though.

i have to admit when i went to pick strawberries, some went into my mouth. hope that is not why they closed and sold out. it just that they smelled so good and the juice on my fingers was tempting then i could not resist popping one in my mouth.
the flower is beautiful, i love seeing the flowers outside more than in the house anyway.
funny i also have a lot of seeds i dont know what i will get till i plant them, i planted sunflowers and thought they would be the large with seeds for the birds, and they turned out small. still fun, the thrill is putting the seed into the earth and seeing what grows.

lovely flower my friend and I am glad that I grow flowers just for the joy of growing them. I have day lilies that you can't pick, they only last a day, but they come back thicker every year. They do well in this climate and that makes me happy. My post today is all flowers too.

I suppose people will always try to get more than they bargained for, or paid for! Years ago, there used to be a strawberry field near my old homestead that allowed people to pay for small baskets and pick strawberries til their heart's content. I love strawberries, but after a while, we began to wish there was an apple grove or a banana plantation nearby, just to break up the monotony. There's now a strip mall and a large parking lot where this beautiful strawberry field once stood. Gotta love that progress . . .

The photos last longer than a day, but there's no scent whatsoever. I think gardening can be an art form, and a person's way of expressing their zest for life - in addition to helping clean the air and feed the belly. So if you'd rather do flowers than potatoes - go for it!
