Well, sometimes the numbers and statistics can be fun, but other times it can detract from the sport because people start to pay too much attention to them! That's when the 'odds makers' come into play, and things take a different route! You can't always go by the numbers . . .

I am not a fan of sabermetrics because it takes the human element out of baseball. People are starting to look at these players as machines, instead of as players who are going to have highs and lows every season.

Secondly, OBP is just a fancy way of saying that a guy walks a lot. Slugging percentages are is just a fancy way of saying someone gets a lot of total bases. We have statistics already to show these things in the form of walks and total bases.
