Originally, the All Star Game used to mean something. When players started the game, they finished it. Nowadays, it is a glorified exhibition game where just about every player plays. I understand why the change happened. Teams do not see the risk of injury as being worth it. Perhaps it would be best if it was scrapped. I do not see that happening. Too much money.

As for what can be done, here are three things:

1. Get rid of the World Series homefield advantage

2. Start the game earlier

3. Do not have it where every team must be represented.

Probably not much. However, I do wish they would remove that silly and unnecessary ruling that the winner determines the home-field advantage for the World Series. It's totally unfair that, if the American League champions ended the regular season with the better record, but the National League won the All-Star game three months earlier, they get home-field! That needs to be changed . . .
