Re: Jimmy
Yes I am trying to get rid of the starlings and restrain the blackbirds by feeding them something the starlybobs are not to fond off. The old chap was my woodwork teacher Jimmy.

Re: Pat
Pat, Robins don't eat strawberries here perhaps yours are sweeter. I cut my grape vines down except one I never sat under them and the grapes were sour I just left one it climbs up into a hawthorn tree and its grapes are quite nice if I can reach them.

The robins here love strawberries. There's not a one left of all that
grew along the fence. I'm sorry I ever planted the grape vine. It grows faster than I can prune it back, and makes the arbor lean to the side.

It would almost seem that you need to create some kind of special buffet setting for the birds to eat from that will leave the rest of the crop for yourselves. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. And that greenhouse owner is 96? Let me know what kind of diet he's on! Somehow I don't believe it involves a lot of red meat and whisky . . .

Re: FS
They sure do I have to net every thing or there would not be much left. The trouble is folk stop feeding the birds along now,but it is needed for the young ones, .

Re: Naut
I think we could be a month early this year. You guys have really had it tough this year.
I have known frosts here on the 1st of June and I never used to sell the bedding plants until that date.

I don't like this talk of harvesting things - it's too early! It makes me think of autumn, and it just got warm here yesterday...
