500 homeruns has lost its luster, unfortunately, because of the Steroid Era, and poor pitching, and it happened with such frequency during the first decade of the 21st century. People are skeptical whenever a player reached a homerun milestone. I think that with another decade or so, 500 homeruns will be a big deal again.
300 wins holds more weight now than what it has before. The emergence of the fifth starter and the reliance on relievers has given a pitcher less chances to win.

Absolutely, since they are both so difficult to achieve! Look at it this way: there have been thousands and thousands of players over the past 100 years or so, and how many have 500 or more home runs? Only 26! And pitching? Again, thousands and thousands of pitchers, but only 24 with 300 or more career wins! Those are very exclusive clubs indeed, and are still extremely prestigious, as far as I'm concerned . . .
