Probably easy to grow Naut , but I don't know if is classed as a noxious weed here . I'll have to ask Arthur if the butterfly breeds here. At the moment it is so wet I doubt that any little winged creature could travel far.

when you mentioned riding your bike normally on the open road and then now have it mounted in your basement...it reminds me of a stephen king short story where a cyclist would cycle "around" using a screen at home...interesting story

Naut

Hey we will join you. This plant is good for many things. This is like all the adds to get rid of dandelion, it is wonderful in your salad, as a tea and it is so profaned. Yes we will plant.

I remember seeing a lot of wild milkweed when I was a kid,

and when the stem was broken the fluid that came out was milk, but tasted oh, so bitter. And if you got milk on your fingers and wiped them on your jeans, there were stains that mama didn't like. And there were all kinds of butterflies there. Taken for granted as part of the landscape, not rare at all as they are now.

I will of course check this out and if there is none or only a little here I will be planting...I will plant anyway.

I have milkweed all around, Naut. Very sentimental about the stuff - it was all over the farm where I was raised. Yet I noticed last year that I only saw ONE monarch during the whole summer. I guess I just don't have enough of it....a-planting I will go.

What a great post.  When we first moved here there were patches of milkweed in the woods around the lakes, and monarch butterflies.  I haven't seen any of the butterflies the last few years, so someone probably got rid of the milkweed.  I shall have to check on that.

I did not know that Monarch Butterflies' numbers had dwindled. Thanks for the milkweed tip to help increase said numbers.
