Re: Jeansaw

Well Jean as long as you don't chew the leaves. Sadly I suppose someone had to experiment in the past to tell if plants were edible. Happy Gardening.

Re: It creeps me out that something underground is nibbling on my veggies

I doubt if there is much animal life in commercial growing soil Pat. Unless as one organic grower said he used human waste.

Re: Jimmy

, True Jimmy, if an animal has worms it might try to remedy itself and suffer more from doing so. Snails are not so bad one can throw them over the fence and they take  time to get back again .

Re: Taps

I notice in the hedgerows shrubs that are toxic, I don't like the look of that critter. I suppose the toxins are to prevent excessive damage by animals.

you do have good garden tips. No worry with Mr. Graysome eating the wrong grasses or plants. Hewon'r eat from the plant. I have to pick his greens and bring them inside. He screams his urgency for me to give them to him...hand held preferably.

i found a nice little picture of a Yew tree for you.

Here in Missouri the Osage Orange trees are a danger to the milk cows if you want milk.  Eating those (also called  hedge apple, horse apple, monkey ball, bois d'arc, bodark, or bodock) dries up the supply.  Down at the farm, we used to help gather and dispose of the things in the pasture.  I don't know why they didn't just cut down the trees and be done with it.

I suppose it's good that at least those slugs are vegetarians. Otherwise, no critter would be safe in that garden! And yes, there are some dopey cats out there who will eat virtually anything. But sometimes, it can be attributed to having a dopey owner too . . .

It creeps me out that something underground is nibbling on my veggies

before I get a chance to. But I suppose that shouldn't be an issue as long as they don't hang on for the ride to the supermarket...
