that is a good way to take care of the problem, something they dont like but will not kill them, it teaches them what they can have and have not. i try to use natural repellents or nothing at all, sometimes i just feel like sharing, life is easier for me than for the critters.

LOL...Let the wars begin....My furry family are a pest too and not just too me. The cheekiest dear little Chipmunk has his tail bitten off by the Squirrel...there is barely 1/2 an inch left and now all of his /her cheeky bravardo is gone. It's a tough world out there. Fight on M'Lady, Fight on!!

Well we don't have many squirrels Pat but the blackbirds are as bad.
They rout everything over as they wait impatiently for the first soft fruit.
I have admitted defeat and net everything except blackberries which
they do not seem to even want to taste.

Found a peanut!
I dug it up when I was preparing a pot for a plant. Funny thing, when I offered the dirty thing back to Madame, she didn't want it.

Yes, we tried that and other interesting things, including Essence du Renard, a.ka. fox pee, LOL, but it seems that even a morning's dew will blunt the effects sufficiently to let the little pests resume their attacks...
