Re: TAPS,
hard to believe it can do that... and yet... it hailed like that about 3 miles from here a couple of years ago, while we got jut a bit. The sudden meltwater floods were dangerous--some woman helped people from their cars to safety, but declined to identify herself.

Re: Pat,
I have been saying it for years: global climate change is upon us. Whether we can do anything to alter that (if it's our activity that tipped a natural balance) or not, we have to learn to live with the changes that are happening. Building weather-protected gardens on a huge scale is part of being prepared to live in a differently weathered world.
This time of year one can see many insectivore birds swooping around the skies over Co Springs, feasting on the moths.

Re: CCT,
They say it is always a good idea to use protection.
If this were my house, not a rental, I'd want to screen in the whole deck, and put glass up for a winter sun room. The screens, to cut the effects of wind, not for mosquitoes. We don't have those around here. We do get some mighty winds, though.
If you have suggestions for protecting my deck gardens, I'm listening.

Re: shamasehar,
We will have those lovely days, too, and more storms as well. Whatever Nature presents, it is up to us to learn to live in it.

We were driving over Ute Pass when it suddenly began to hail. It was doing it so hard traffic had to come to a halt. Before it was over, not too long at all, there was 12 inches of hail on the ground. No lie. Somewhere I have an old photo of it. It was 1967 and we were on our way to Eleven Mile Reservoir to camp in a little tent. LOL

Adapting to the weather is an art form. Do you have to be a tree?
Tender buds succumb, rough bark might not.
I have no use for miller moths
dusty frothy irritating things
like thoughts you can't put your finger on.

How frustrating Ciel if I lived in a climate like that I would certainly use some kind of protection. Makes yer cry.
