Yeah, I too remember those huge banks of little drawers with cards, especially at the universities; but then they went to microfiche, and I didn't like that...And I have also been neglecting the Blogit cards...

I use e-cards a lot...It takes weeks to send snail mail to and from Australia and an e-card goes instantly. Not the same I know...I love a card in my hand and I have some from friends who have died and they are precious reminders that we shared so much together...but i still do the E-cards.

Re: BC-A
I think I forget to use them because I always want to say something in the comments. I have trouble not saying something if I read a post. LOL

Oops! I take that back. I do look at the calling cards. Forgot what they
were called. I should use them but I like to read all the comments...

Re: JimmyA
They are for people who like to read your posts but don't have anything to say in a comment. They just say "I was here" and "I like your post" or "I am embarrassed by what you said" or "puzzled", etc. All said by the emoticon that you pick to go on the calling card. They are nice to know that someone is following you and reading what you say.

To be perfectly honest, I've pretty much ignored those 'calling cards' as well. I'm not even sure what they actually represent. It's enough for me that people occasionally stop by and leave comments. I don't think I've ever left a calling card for anyone, or responded to those who may have left one for me. Are they even necessary? Just not sure . . .
