It is sad but so is the passing of the years and all sorts of changes and forever goodbyes. Our memories warm us though and encourage us to go on; perhaps for not just ourselves but for those that go before as well.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's always sad to lose a friend; but birthdays, weddings and funerals, and the last more than the others, are occasions when we tend to pause and remember in togetherness with others, and there's a certain kind of spiritual renewal in that...

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend.
I guess that is what wakes and memorials and visitations are for:Adding rather than decreasing your life by the passage of a friend.
