Chance plays a lot on cards as in life I think Pat. Of course some play both better than the next person.

A deck of cards is a great metaphor.

Life is just a cribbage game that I don't play anymore, but life? Yeah I'm still involved in it, had a good draw that came up all aces, we call that Kabu here.

Deck of cards

I like this train of thought.  You have given me something to think about.

Interesting! I do know there's a huge body of literature around cards and cartomancy (especially involving Tarot cards) - and that's virtually all I know, LOL... At the U I played some Bridge, but dropped it when it began to take up too much time...These days I play a little Poker occasionally, and that's about it...

Of course, if you take them back a few centuries

the cards were the Tarot, in which every card tells a story, describes a situation, suggests a solution... And besides the basic 52, add the 21 Major Arcana which address themselves to the more spiritual/cosmic situations, stories and solutions.

Good post.  My Dad was adverse to playing cards and wouldn't let us have them in the house when I was a kid.  I never really understood why.  So when I married and my hubby taught me how to play several different solitaire games I wasted quite a bit of time doing that and realized what my Dad had against them.  He hated seeing anyone not being productive.  He also despised gambling.  Now I waste a lot of time playing Solitaire on the computer.
