Yes - doggies have their own unique characters and likes or dislikes. They don't worry about being politically correct when expressing them either! Ben's job is, after all, to keep those loud noises from harming you...

Our collie/golden retriever mix "Chipper" was so afraid of thunder storms she ruined our back door with her toenails before we could get there to let her in.  She liked being out most of the time and the yard was fenced, but first thunder and she would go nuts.

Naut

I suppose in nature Ben would run and escape the menace. I once had a collie and at the first sign of thunder he would escape from his run and disappear. Eventually I had to let him stay indoors if I thought thunder was likely.

Our cats hide under the bed during thunder storms. I guess each animal is affected differently by different sounds. And I think the only way that coat was going to help was if it was wrapped around his ears . . .

That is all very interesting. Wonder if he was harmed some way by something that had a heavy strange sound? He is such a cutie.

Something in the pitch probably irritates the nerves in his ears.

We had a brindle shepherd mix who used to run in circles and howl at sirens, Harleys and hot-rods...

The Gods are rumbling and Bennie is going to keep them up there on yop of Mt Olympus if it is the last thing that he does. Definitely an Alpha Male is your doggie.

My parents Doberman used to freak out when there were thunderstorms. Another dog they had at the time, whose breed escapes me, did not act differently. It was business as usual.
