I have always wondered about that - I think Grump reacts much like your Bennie when I just chat to him. Smooch is a whole other thinker...he pays attention if he thinks he wants to....

I guess that first time he was much too tired and much too comfortable to even care! But, sometimes two times is the charm! Of course he understands! Pretty soon he'll be grabbing the car keys and asking if he can pull the car around for you . . .

They do understand so much...All I have to say in an ordinary conversation is "He needs his Supper" and MR. Graysome will start pushing Wiley to come and get it for him. LOL. And that is a beautiful picture of a lovely doggie thoroughly enjoying his treat. True to his breed, totally focussed.
