Re: Re: Re: Re:
I totally agree I don't mind so much seeing someone look as though they have had a rough time being interrogated, if it is omportant to the story... but leave me out of the details and the screams.

Re:
I don't blame you, adnohr. I too would rather watch a good hockey game than a bad movie crammed with unnecessary scenes like these! Thanks for rooting for my Blueshirts! They got off to a great start in Game One, but there's something about Game Two's that they always seem to struggle with! That's okay! There's still a long way to go! And I see that the Habs are really giving the Lightning a run for their money! It's going to be an interesting second round . . .

The reason I stick to hockey...unless it's a Walt Disney movie.
By the way, was cheering for your Rangers against Flyers...hope they get them stilll!

Re: Re: Re:
As do I, Kabu. Those so-called "slasher" movies are just not my cup of tea either. For me, movies are supposed to be entertaining. And watching people getting hacked to death is simply not entertaining! I actually also don't like movies where someone is being tortured in any way, even if it is integral to the plot. That feeling of vulnerability just eats away at me, seeing someone tied or chained up, and someone else doing what they please with or to them! No thanks! Let's move on . . .

Re:
Thanks, Justi. I had a feeling that many in here would agree with my assessment, and my complaint. It is just so absolutely unnecessary, and the scene as I've described it would have been more than adequate to fulfill the need to show that aspect of these character's personal lives! The 'scene' itself is just not needed! Perhaps one day Hollywood will finally understand that . . .

Re: Jimmy
It really is, isn't it, Naut? Especially in some dramatic movie! The story is flowing along, things are getting more exciting and more intricate, and then suddenly we're in someone's bedroom watching something we don't need to see! I just don't understand Hollywood's thinking sometimes . . .

Re:
It is indeed, C C T! And it's very, very rarely integral to the plot! If you want to see that type of rubbish, rent a porno! If you want to watch a good movie with a good story line, that stuff can be left out altogether . . .

Re: Re:
Or why they make movies with limbs and heads being chain sawed off a victim while they scream and blood spurts everywhere. I loathe watching extreme violence and cruelty too.

I am so proud of you. They long ago lost the ability to be delicate leaving much to the individual's imagination. I LOVE this post.

I agree! I might have found it interesting when I was sixteen, but watching others humping is just a bore, I find...

Re: JimmyA
You're probably right, Sir Wiley. I guess those producers and directors feel that someone wants to see that, but I'm assuming those audience members are few and far between. At least I hope they are . . .

Re:
Nor do I, Kabu. It just seems completely unnecessary, that's all! Imply it, leave it to our imagination, then move on! I just don't understand why Hollywood continues to do this . . .

Re:
Well, FSI, I can't really concur as far as books are concerned, since the books I typically read usually don't have 'scenes' like that in them. But I'm sure the general 'slowing down' of the story-line is the same! It's just unnecessary . . .

Re: 4Ways a batter can reach base without making contact with the ball
You got it, Greatwriter, you got it! Not an easy question, was it? Many people know of a walk and a hit by pitch, and a lot of people forget about the dropped called third strike. But catcher's interference is even rarer, and that's the one people usually don't remember at all! Good going . . .

Well perhaps young kids like it Jimmy. We used to see the waves smashing down on the beach. Actually as you suggest it is so boring after a while.

Some how it is less confronting for me in a book...nor does it remove the flow quite the same but, for me, sex has never been a spectator sport. i do not enjoy watching hot and heavy in a Movie.

I feel the same way as you do, Jimmy. Many a sex scene has broken the flow of a movie. I have noticed the same thing, too, in books.
