- Go to And the there was Ben…LXVIII
The first thing I did was go to your link and to the comments to see if I had read it before. I had. I read my comment and then I went back and read your poem once more. Great. Now I'm back and trying to figure out why Ben might like to have his ears milked. I can't even imagine that one.

where to start, the poem....as wonderful this read as the last time and it still brings that wonderful horse odour to me...then the cow i love that bovine odour as well and being a farm born girl, even though Dad had a milking machine, of course I had to learn to milk a cow. Eee-uh Yuk...i did not want to so...as a teenager I grew my nails and painted them.
..and as for Bennies ears...I refuse to get into a discussion involving ear nibbling!!

I learned to milk cows that year I lived on a farm.
Ever since then, I've kept my fingernails trimmed short. Lucky for me that's also good practice for a typist.

A man I used to know was only a boy he took the cows along the roadside for an extra treat. He usually carried a jam jar to handle his drink, but I have seen him slide under the cows and squeeze the milk into his open mouth. Now to read your poem.

I myself have never milked a cow. The only person I know besides you who has milked one is Harry James...I am curious to see where this goes with Ben's ears.
