i bought this laptop and i think it had xp...my son upgraded me to windows 8....thankfully he taught himself a lot about computers...good luck!

Seems like you will have to wipe the disk and reload Windows Naut . I expect it would pay you to get a new computer but not with Windows 8 . Sadly shop bought computers don't seem to last like they should and so called computer engineers charge the earth to get them going again.

Has this to do with the end of support for Windows XP?
It seems to me the Microsoft Corp. is being extremely user UNfriendly.
