You are so good at explaining things like this, and making it interesting at the same time. For some unexplained reason, my computer settled down and started working normally again, for which I am thankful.

I went to Windows 7 with the purchase of this computer, and it
has a pretty steep learning curve. XP was far more logical and learnable, and even though I've moved to the newer version, I still miss the shortcuts I learned with XP. I think MS is short-sighted in backing off from it. There are plenty of new kids to grab up the next greatest innovation.

Thank you Naut. This post certainly wins you a reprieve from the broom. I knew all this info. but putting it together as you have here clarifies the whole dang mess for me and sorts out my mind. Not an easy thing to do....sort out my mind.

Well , I'm still working with my XP, I'm getting rid of Norton and using Avast free model, because Norton makes problems by itself by keeping folks so involved fixing their 'ERRORS' we think it's the greatest. I'm keeping my laptop with Windows 7 and IE 9, and I don't care what or when I buy again, but it won't be Dell.

I enjoyed reading your analysis a lot. I am looking forward to the next in stallment...I know of many who do not like Windows 8. It is a shame what Microsoft is doing.

I suppose the next strike will be Vista. Windows eight does not cut the mustard. Sadly new machines are usually equipped with the new version . I can be so cocky Naut because Arthur read the manuals and builds our computers, he became disillusioned with those on offer. Well he did buy a Chrome book because it is handy to carry around and of course it is Apple.
