It breaks my heart just to hear you tell this story, Jemmie. So many people live this same fate every day. No one deserves it, no matter what they have or haven't done in life.
I admit, there are people who need to be "watched out for", as it were, a few people I know don't know the true meaning down and out, and maybe they need a lesson.
I pray this man will find the greatest mercy and compassion just when he needs it the most. I will pray for him tonight.

nice to see you posting again jemmie...yes it is...and the scammers who just want to earn a living begging make it harder for those who truly are down and out. I hope somebody is able to give that man a leg up and get back his dignity

You obviously have a good heart, and I'm sure you would have done more for him if you could. Sometimes I think it's unbelievably deplorable that, in this day and age, there are still people in this position. We always wish we could give more, but sometimes, you have to take care of yourself first. I'm sure you'll get another opportunity . . .

So many people are in need of something. This afternoon, very near here, two children riding down a driveway on a skateboard ran into the street and were hit by a van that could not stop in time. One was pronounced dead on the scene. The other is in critical condition with brain injuries. At the moment all I can offer are my prayers. Soon there will probably be a place noted to make donations for funeral and hospital bills. Poor parents.

Most folk here are cared for financially some way or other. It was strange how your feelings changed when you saw he was just human in poor straits.
