Go to Life in the fast lane--where's the on ramp?

From reading this post Naut's comment, I'm wondering if maybe Lowes doesn't have a policy of hiring upbeat people? And it's always easy to respond to an interesting and cheerful client.

Do you sew little cloth tags in your hats saying, "Made by....."?
If not you should.

Funny how some stores really train the attendants to make small talk. It does make all the difference. Of course it is the competitive environment. I remember faintly those war years the shop keepers were like little tyrants dishing out small privileges. The assistants were not much better. Well I suppose they all disliked knowing boys.

Isn't that interesting! You see, I also go for things, usually just small stuff like bulbs and such (these twisties that are suppossed to last til Doomsday burn out faster than the old incandescent ones!), and I have the choice between Home Depot, which is a bit closer, and Lowe's. Guess where I end up - at Lowe's, and it's because I like to kid around (I won't call it 'flirting') with the cheerful girls at the check-out...
