Thank you for writing this post, life sure hasn't been just a cakewalk for you has it. The part of your being taught how to do so many things, and the singing, and the fact you got well fed, I could feel your happiness for that. It is a joy to know you.
P.S. Thank you for reading my post but there was no reply thingy on that one, a Blogit fumble I guess.

how wonderful since you three were in Foster Care that the people were so good. And you were all done a favor by learning how to do chores. My Niece was 19 when she came to me in Sydney and she could not even set a table, cleaning she had no idea cooking, forget it.

I suppose as children we look at our parents without thinking of the love they are bestowing upon us. Your Mother had to be her own woman, times were hard. I expect she would have liked to have provided her children with a few luxuries and no doubt it was her strength of will that pulled her through that operation in those days.

With all the horror stories you hear about foster parents (I guess the good ones aren't news) it's so nice to read of nice ones such as Uncle Sam an Auntie Ethel!
And you were soprano? What a thrill! I love mezzos and altos as well, and in my next life I'll marry someone who'll sing to me all day, Steven Foster, Franz Schubert and the entire bel canto repertoire...
