Re: Re: Ciel

As it happens, I am out of bananas but do have a few apples that are getting a bit shriveled.  I eat the bananas first, a little green, before the potassium goes to sugar. I think I will cut the apples into pieces and sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar, and then bake them a while.

Re: Trusted Servant

Well I hope you found the truth Carolyne it is like the sailor said when his home girl friend asked why he was calling it a day and had met another girl. 'What has she got, that I haven't?'  'Nothing was the reply ,but she's got it here.' I know it is an old one.

Re:Naut

Yes hunger Naut , prisoners used to catch cockroaches attracted to the open latrines. Surprising what becomes a source for survival. Rather you than me though in a stormy sea.

Re: Ciel

Yes Ciel beneath our facade of sophistication lurks the means of survival. Oh have an apple, I was going to say a banana but it might seem rude.

Ewwww...the thought of rats makes me shiver.
One of my FL grandsons has three pet white rats.  They don't seem quite so bad, but you wouldn't get me to play with them like he does.

A lot of things look like food... and even ARE food

when you get hungry enough.  We are survivors, after all.

CCT

I've always enjoyed the feeling of being buttoned up securely against the fury of the elements, especially on a boat...And having a rat roast would not be my idea of a feast, but then, during sieges people had to rely on them for survival throughout history...

CCT...Yes, I heard the Headless Horseman" became headless

uner these very circumstances...he was under trees, riding through a swamp, when the horse reared up...and when he was rescued from said trees, he'd lost his head...its still up there somewhere....

now I know what is wrong I will leave the candle at home and tell old Ned to find his own damn way home. I shall just sit there with a rug around me and holding an umbrella. I can't go with you re the rat!!

Thanks for the warning. However, I think the last time I rode through a flooded area on horseback carrying candle, not only did I have a dickens of a time keeping the flame lit, but the damn horse just would not stop going on about how damp and miserable it was out there! Ruined the whole trip . . .

It can be tough to find something to write everything. You do a fine job doing so...I find it interesting to read about Ted.
