I'm afraid I'm not quite sure, C C T, if I'm familiar with that particular letter, but I can imagine what it may contain. I'm sure America 'losing its way' was its central theme, along with a few embarrassing and disgraceful examples. An incident like this should make the list . . .

Re:

Of course we don't, Against. Thus my question about the rapid disappearance of scruples . . .

Re: Re: Re:

Or perhaps, Kabu, their mattresses are quite comfortable stuffed with all of that ill-gained money . . .

Re:

I honestly didn't know we had a choice, Utah. I actually thought that embalming was pretty much mandatory these days. Perhaps there are options state to state, or is something else involved . . . ?

Re:

You are, Carolyn? Just trying to be prepared, or is there something you're not telling us? And I have a feeling that 'creep' was just ribbing you . . .

Re: Jimmy..no business anywhere, unfortunately is immune

Sad but true, Rumor. That's why I sometimes question the whereabouts of scruples these days . . .

Yes well,  can't think that it would be for transplants , probably for some medical facility I would imagine. A bit below standard using newspaper. Jimmy where money is involved nothing surprises me. It was disgusting. Remember that gent who read 'Letter from America. '  Really horrible if it was true.

We put our trust in embalmers and morticians.  We don't expect them to be the desecrators of our dearly departed loved ones.

that's just weird. my neighbor worked at a funeral home and once when he thought he had a live body on his hands his boss told him to turn up the heat. don't know if he was ribbing me but he was a creep with a creepy job. ee gads, and i'm planning my funeral these days.

Jimmy..no business anywhere, unfortunately is immune

Re: Jimmy

Really, Naut? I'm actually somewhat surprised. It's not easy to make someone who's usually so opinionated and loquacious about these bizarre little topics speechless ( and of course I mean with the utmost respect possible ). I really thought you'd have something to throw onto the table over this one . . .

Re: Jimmy A

An apropos assessment, Sir Wiley. I'm sure there may be others words or terms, but that one probably sums it up accurately . . .

Re:

You're absolutely right, TAPS. That's usually the primary motive for such endeavors. Whether the organs were sold on the 'black market,' or the funeral home was just trying to save money somehow, we may never know for sure. Remember: the love of money is the root of all evil . . .

Re:

I remember that story as well, FSI. And these are only the ones we know about! That's why I ask, are there any scruples out there anymore?

Re:

As all our hearts should, Kabu. It really, really makes me wonder sometimes how certain people can sleep at night . . .

Disgusting is the only term I can use.

I'm sure I don't know what to say.  I can't begin to imagine why people do what they do.  It must have something to do with the acquisition of money is all I can figure.

That is terrible what that funeral home did to him. I, too, wonder how many other deceased people have received such horrible treatment...I remember the crematory operator in Georgia who instead of cremating the bodies, was placing the bodies in a rural part of North Carolina and sent cement dust to the families.

I think that you are right. no scruples.at all or someone paid to have the organs removed and cremated with some other body. I have always been baffled about this what seems to me to be a murder. Really weird and my heart goes out to those parents.
