The same in Australia about the heat. They say records are broken, well they obviously didn't take the records that we were experiencing when I ws a kid and a young girl some Summers, and I remember Mother telling me terrible stories of heat and flies and then Winter cold and rain. Cycles of life...of Nature.

frozen rivers are cool... i'd get nervous if i had little ones nearby in the early winter and spring when before it freezes and is melting.

It amazes me that the mighty Mississippi should freeze solid from shore to shore. I've just spent some time with it, reading Mark Twain's Life on the Mississipi...
