Re:
Are they usually sweet, Carolyn, or a bit on the tangy side? Yes, you don't often come across that word. But when it popped into my head while penning this particular blog, I knew I just had to use it . . .

Re:
Understandable, Annicita. I guess I would feel the same way if someone was to have written about such goings-on during a show like, say, "Dancing With The Stars" or "American Idol," or some other 'reality' nonsense. I think this really had to do with 'human nature' and other people's reactions more than anything else . . .

Re:
Probably, lustor. Here in the U.S., he may have been 'hauled away' for such behavior. If nothing else, depending on the venue, others would probably have joined in. To see a fan working 'solo' on such a rant was both unusual and somewhat funny . . .

Re: Jimmy A
Surprised, Sir Wiley? I wasn't so sure. I guess he had to have been a Brit, but which well-known personality trait were they displaying? The crudeness to yell in the face of an opposing player, or the adeptness to ignore it? Bizarre . . .

Re:
I suppose that's one way to look at it, Kabu. And you're right . . . usually, other fans would have joined in, especially with an opposing player being so close to them. Yes, the fan was probably harmless, and fortunately I guess, he used his mouth instead of his fists . . .

Re:
Some people indeed, Utah! This kid was neither a hero or a villain, nor was he someone who would have had to have been dragged away in handcuffs! He said his piece, he was ignored by the opposing player and his fellow fans, and the game simply went on. A strange sight indeed . . .

Re: Jimmy
I'm sure that's true, Naut, and the scene in general was relatively harmless. It was just bizarre to see such a one-on-one confrontation between a fan and a rival player that drew not one ounce of attention from any other fan! A day in the life, I guess . . .

Re:
Being a sports fan in general, TAPS, I have seen similar scenes during other sporting events. But usually, it's a small 'group' of fans getting on an opposing player, and you'll see most of the other fans in that area watching and paying at least some attention to the display! To see just one fan getting on that player with no one around him paying any mind was very unusual, and hilarious . . .

Re:
It really was, FSI. Now, it would have been one thing if a group of fans were ranking on that Arsenal player. You'd almost expect something like that. But to see one, lone fan 'giving him the business' with no one else joining in or paying any attention to the scene, it was just unbelievably bizarre, and funny . . .

A most unusual occurence because other people usually enter into something like this. Perhaps her is well known and quite harmless. Trust the English to know how to totally ignore .

As these things tend to go in Britain, this was pretty harmless. Unfortunately the Brits are kown for their loutish behaviour at soccer matches...

You have done a great job describing the scene. In my mind's eye, I can see everything unfolding from the player waiting, to the fan going nuts and the other fans in their own little world. A hilarious scene, indeed.
