I understand your angst at being somewhat forced to result to fisticuffs, but some might call this a 'fight or flight'-type of reaction. I think almost anyone would have done the same thing in that position. In one aspect, you were actually defending yourself. In another, you were merely reacting to the situation in front of you. I don't believe you can be faulted in either case. But I agree with everyone else. You may have taught this young man a valuable lesson that seems to be fading over time: respect for one's elders! Don't 'beat yourself up' over it. It's done. Move on . . .

I fully believe you remorse and prayers are awesome and the correct way. However, we are seeing to may young people acting like thugs and accepting it as okay. You taught him a lesson without intent, malice nor did you harbor continued ill will. I see it as a lesson sent to the boy to learn respect.

Nasty business and I'm sorry for your predicament. Of course PTSD is not something we get over, our only meds can be booze or drugs. God was good to that mug, other days he may have not been here alive to whine about it. You did what you could do, the world still needs folks like you teaching lessons to the hard of head,

I should say something about controlling the urge to physical...Blah Blah...you had a PTSD flash back and that is that. Instant reaction ....classic behaviour. Besides, the guy learned a valuable, lesson. Stop being so self centered and rude to other folks and to respect his elders.
