Believe it or not, your son's tale is not all that unique. Much of what you wrote about his early years sounds like things I ( and a few other people I know ) also went through ( except for the injuries ). Life is difficult, and sometimes unfair, for just about everyone. But, we learn from these things, and move on. I don't blame your son for being somewhat bitter at times, but hopefully, he has benefitted from some of these experiences, and can find the silver linings to some of these clouds . . .

He was working at the local zoo and pet store but they made him give it up he is not allowed to volunteer

Yes LL it does seem that life has dealt him some tough cards. However perhaps some good will come out of this, he might find a job suitable to his talent, or if he does get invalidity payment, perhaps a light job advising on the care of animals. He must not give up.
