Re: Jimmy
Too many mice nibbling away at night, only field mice but not very nice if they pee on everything.

Perhaps Archie can give those tomato seeds to his FIL to start his own garden! Two birds . . . one stone! And speaking of birds, I hope the berries that were blown off satiate them! Then they'll leave the rest for you . . .

Re:

Well I have known plenty of grumpy old ladies Kabu, men appear to grow more gentle as they age. Of course I might be going by my own demeanour, as I have to be extra nice on blogit. ###########

Re: Ciel
I think with Archie , he likes to be appreciated,I suppose the old chap thinks it will be his daughters one day, but if one has to go into a nursing home, money soon disappears.
Archie took him a compost bin about two years ago. He kept grumbling because the old chap never used it, I noticed it was stacked against mine last week. By the way have you ever tried a new bean that is on the market? It is a cross between a French and runner bean and is self pollinating. We don't see magpies much, but I noticed the little doves are back this morning. It is supposed to become colder, that will bring the other small birds into the feeding area.

Re: I just can't get in the spring mood, or think of planting - this Polar
Yes well it is still raining here Pat, I see some folk are now complaining that the river which runs through the town was not de-silted. no good trying it when it is nearly brim full.

Re: Naut

No I don't think we want to go backwards Naut , but I think they have gone over the top selling potatoes beneath the plant and tomatos above. Grafted I suppose.

Maybe Archie wants to get into what in these parts are known as 'heritage tomatoes'. I'm not sure what their advantage is, other than looking strange...And when you get to the stage Fred and Mabel seem to be at, a nice bike ride is a good alternative...

Vortex and one after another of the windy snowstorms they call clippers has me ready to crawl under the covers for the next eight weeks.

Potatoes, tomatoes...
I guess there are magpies everywhere, and doves of one sort or another. Our magpies are white and black with a green sheen.
Archie might come out and tell his FiL that he doesn't like being run around. And no, the old guy isn't likely to hop up and start running around on his own account. Maybe he really needs the help. Maybe he just doesn't ask for it nicely enough.
