I'm afraid I'm one of those who whould have to see one to believe there is/was one (Ancient Aliens).  I watched about half of the documentary.  It was interesting, but it wasn't changing anything for me, so I decided to go watch Judge Judy instead.  LOL

I watched it once and was dumbfounded at the thought that man, even ancient man, could not have built the things they did, therefore it must have been aliens, showing me the short comings of the so called scientist on the screen...But then, he couldn't even comb his hair sooo...

I watched some of the movie enough to understand that the alien show was no better than that silly old movie, Chariots of the Gods.  I also read some of the comments below and actually found them more intersting if sad.

So many folk either have to be fundamentalist in their belief or athiest. Unlike me

they miss the truth  both extremes.

Like you, I find what is on that show to be horse manure as well...I was so glad when that Mayan end date finally passed. It seemed that was all History was doing shows on for awhile there.

I've come across this program once or twice, and although the short segments I did watch had some interest to them, I knew enough to change the channel before my head exploded!

You may or may not recall Carl Sagan's famous series Cosmos, which ran about 30 years ago, but he explained, in the simplest form, what the odds were of there actually being intelligent life on other worlds. The number was huge, but not as big as one might initially think. Then he calculated the odds of said intelligent life possessing the capabilities of interstellar space travel. The number grew even longer! Then he calculated the odds of said intelligent life, who may possess interstellar space travel capabilities, actually choosing to come in this direction in this vast and open universe, and then stopping in to say hello! If the number were to be printed out, I believe he said it would be several miles long! Alpha Centauri, which does posses orbiting planets, is the closest star to ours, but is still 4.3 light years away [ as the crow flies ]!

Sorry, people. If there is any form of life out their in the galaxy, it ain't coming this way!

There was a book and maybe a series about ancient wonders

back in the '70s where some genius decided the Mayans had carved out patterns around their temples that could only be seen from the sky, (this long before the invention of the airplane) and positing the idea the culture had been transplanted here from the great beyond, perhaps after escaping a dying planet... It's fun to think about: highly unlikely.
