Your boys are making a far more valuable contribution than most college grads! I wish all three the very best! And as to your question - at least another month...grrr...

Even though you look upon their military exploits as 'careers,' I'm sure you'll understand when I say I hope they're all soon out of a job! That would mean they would be home, safe and sound, and no one would need to die needlessly . . .

I imagine that I would never get use to their job description either were I in your shoes...A great question to ponder at the end.

I wish that they were all in college /University/ were accountants ...anything but the adventurous rascals that they are. I always pray for your boys but now I am sending really LOUD prayers for Peters safety.

Your lads are among the best trained soldiers in the world,
and the best-equipped to get the job done... and to accomplish the priority of getting everyone home again, intact. College kids go into a subtler kind of battle-zone, pretty much alone and ill-prepared, to face the seductions of self-indulgences that can turn devastating to their lives, even deadly. Most will graduate one day, and hardly anyone will notice or celebrate their homecoming; many will walk away from classes deeply in debt and with no clear career ahead of them.
All kids go out into a dangerous world, take risks, some of which they'll be too naive or ignorant to see coming. Some will do what they're doing for an idealistic cause, aiming to benefit others; some will just be out there trying to not be a burden on the state. Some will be trying to get away with getting their own needs met, and won't care who they burden or mess up, doing it.
We all worry for our kids, but some of us can balance that with pride in the choices they have made.

Perhaps silence as they withdraw Taps I guess it is more worrying for the loved ones. A job to think like those young lads, life is pliable when one is young.
