Re: CCT,
That sounds like an excellent blanket!
I found one at the thrift store a couple of years ago, a 4-bar Hudson's Bay blanket, originally made for the early fur traders and Indians. It's on my bed now. A lot of those were made into jackets, too. After finding this one, I did some research to see how they're valued. I got a very good deal!
And Charlie did indeed paint a good portion of the garage! Come the warm days of spring, it will make a nice work-space!

Re: Kabu,
You know my short attention span... why I make hats instead of blankets!
You are right about the bounties: NZ had no mammals, only birds and lizards, until rats and dogs and cats and possums arrived with the various groups of settlers. And all those critters love birds and eggs! The black swans also came from Australia. http://www.flickr.com/photos/therovingeye/sets/72157625957627527/

Re: JimmyA,
you would have a store-sized wad of yarn with cats in it here and there.

I have a Merino blanket Ciel, a women I used to know locally worked in the
Blanket Mill and she was always bringing me slightly second blankets,
she must have had them for peanuts, because they were very cheap.
I know she did not nick them because she was quite well off and not that type.
Anyway I don't think they will ever wear out. One brand I remember
was made especially for the Indian trade it was very brightly coloured.
I hope you were given a bagful of oddments. A good job I was not doing
that job , I might have ended up winding a few skeins under my vest.
I hope Charlie painted the garage, while his Mum was hard at work.

Good girl and well done and you are a legend. That is very long hours to hold one's attention.
No I don't know why they have bountys in NZ. but sometimes one could wish for a window of opportunity to have a few in Sydney taken. They live extremely well with humans and get into the attic and pee stains come through the ceiling.
They carry vermin, I am not real keen on Possums.Maybe that is why NZ likes to cull some of them....Oh hang on...I think that I am wrong. I don't think that they were a native of NZ and they upset the ecology of the local critters. Yes I believe that is the reason.

I'm sure all that hard work pays off! And it's a good thing there are no cats around when those balls of yarn go this way and that! You'd never get them back together, at least not in one piece . . . !
