Re: Re: Re: Kabu

I've always enjoyed them, and family members, but I never thought about "forcing" them on other people who didn't know her.

Re: Re: Kabu

I suppose yes most are lost, but one feels a hunger for more. She really writes of social customs recipes and the ways of another older country but transplanted into a new land and not being very pioneer minded myself I so admire I grandparents and great grandparents, especially the women.

It sounds a lot like I remember Hannibal, your mother's home town.

Lovely memories a little bit sad in a way Taps. People seemed to get pleasure from just little things, we have lost a lot of that contentment somehow.

Those are truly treasures. You could do a blog of Rose's Leaves. I love her writing. No wonder you write so well it is just yet another talent you got from your Mother. Be blessed.

Re: Kabu

I have some.  My sisters have some.  The ones she sent to other people like her sisters and old friends, and church ladies, are probably long gone by the wayside.

I know of a few people who would like Blogit...That is neat how you all went to the area where your mother used to live at. I myself live at one of the houses my mother grew up at.

Aah, memories! That's what keeps us young, and keeps the spirit of others alive within us! And you're right . . . sometimes cold, gray days are perfect for 'going though things.' Happy hunting . . .

Rose Leaves. Perfect...

I love her story of laundry in the "good old days." I remember my mom talking about the same labor-intensive process. Heck, I remember hauling wet clothes to the line and hanging them when I was a young mom with lots of diapers...
