Re: C.C.T.

Goodness Bill that's a worry, I hope you don't have to go down there. Your Icy weather is coming here so maybe you will get a respite.

Re: Re: Re: Ciel

Of course Ciel that is nice for the residents. Not many views around here . Although one house is sometimes knocked down to make make room for three or four. A lot of the old council houses had massive gardens, as the family relied on it for subsistence. I don't suppose you grow a lot of winter lettuce.

Re: Re: Ciel

There's quite a well-developed citadel inside Cheyenne Mountain, where NORAD lived a while,  I think they've moved out by now.

In Colorado Springs there are ordinances and height limitations to prevent builders to obscure the views.

C.C.T.

My pump’s off today, going to 32. Pray the basement doesn’t flood sir. And that Mrs. Sun will understand the operation of constant running and resting it and that she’ll understand there’s a lot of water and more coming down there when I leave it on all day tomorrow. And for her niece to appreciate the results of the noise. And let it be low Lord-Lambi and Josie.  BC-A, Bill’s R®st

Re: Jimmy

A dollar is .61 pounds Jimmy so you can see we would regard the house price as cheap.Sadly low interest rates have pushed house prices up and we have seen it before once rates increase there will be a sad consequence. Yes I get the picture the trees on the mountain kept it all stable. Nature holds a delicate balance.

Re: We've had 13" of snow here, and there are drifts up against my car

Yes I expect it will be something to put up with Pat . Perhaps you should be like Kabu and invest in a small pump. You certainly don't need rain you talk in Fahrenheit I assume.

Re: Kabu

She taught me a lot of things Kabu, but one can get addicted to one's own failings.

People are funny they come and plonk a house in front of someone else and then sweat blood if they think someome might obscure their veiw. When I had a poultry farm, houses were built about 50 feet away and then some owners complained of the noise and the aroma. The children who grew up did not notice anything odd as they did not know anything different.

Re: Ciel

Yes Ciel but look 500 years hence. I expect a lot of folks will live underground if they want to be near the cities. There won't be many with a view to a mountain.

If playing it properly is no fun

the only thing to do is play it improperly

A dreadful idea, all the open space in this country filling up!

It's bad enough, the way cities and their suburbs are exploding out into wilderness and destroying the habitats of those that live there already.  We never seem to consider the people and creatures who live someplace already, when we decide to move in and take it over. Anyway, the East Coast is pretty much filled now.

Lovely flowers!

well I do hope that when we get the Spring thaw that the pump can keep the basement dry.

Sydney housing is like the UK terribly expensive because all the new Australians want to live and work in Sydney and no one ever wants to leave...well except me.

Doesn't sound like that therapist did you much good.

We've had 13" of snow here, and there are drifts up against my car

that reach well above my knees. I shoveled most of the walk, but got tired and will get to the drift tomorrow. It's supposed to be 50 degrees here on Sunday, almost that warm on Saturday, which means there will be a lot of melting - plus it is supposed to rain. I expect to find water in my basement...

I guess there was a natural increasing of property values everywhere! My parents bought their first home ( where I grew up ) in 1956 for $12,500. When they retired and sold it in 1992, they got $250,000! It was recently on the market again for $335,000! I don't know how people can afford them these days!

And we have plenty of 'flood areas' over here as well, and there seems to be a fairly simple reason for their increase: deforestation! People unwisely built homes in certain valleys, and then, for some reason, proceeded to remove the bulk of the trees from the mountain sides above them. Then when a heavy rain came . . .

Yes, yes.  Keep your mind active.  I've always heard that an idle mind is the devil's workshop.
