Re: Re:
Over here in the states, when people hear of a 'crown,' they usually think of their dentist . . .

Re:
Indeed not Jimmy there was a limit to my cash balance.
Funny we never called them crowns as there was no such coinage. Five Bob was two half crowns. Or even a dollar as some oldies called five shillings. So once they may have been that value.
Many years later Crowns were minted and people looked a bit
worried when they passed one on as they were supposed to bring bad luck.

Regardless of what was in that package, that was a clear example of "There's no time like the present." Shoulda, woulda, coulda . . . we've all been there! Now if it had cost a full crown, you probably wouldn't have looked twice at it . . .

I'm not sure whether it was pain that made you remember
or frustrated curiosity. We tend to keep and file the mysteries. But we do have to sympathize with that little boy who hesitated and missed his chance.

The ladies are ignoring that wretched little man FS. Yes everyone thinks today is modern and we have only been here a few thousand years recorded. I remember the old scrolls of the Vians earth was not habitable for quite a time.

Re: Ciel
Ciel I probably would not have remembered the incident if I had just gone into the shop and bought what ever it was. Perhaps we remember disappointments more than pleasure.

What's really sad about that disappointment was never finding out
that the presents in that package might well have disappointed, too. Every kid I ever knew who sent away hard-won pennies for some marvel on the back of a cereal box did not end up feeling they'd gotten a prize.
