You do not need to buy gold for investing, instead, you can buy its ETF, such as gld.

the only gold i have bought is something to wear with the idea of perhaps selling it...i never have, LOL

To me Gold is too volatile

i am reminded of the time in college when i first had a desire to be rich and filled out a magazine card concerning kruggerand investments. some broker then called me and when i said i was a broke college student his best rebuttal was, "how much money do you think you need to buy gold?" needless to say he's not nor never will be my broker.

I do some investing (and trading), and right now I wouldn't touch gold with a ten-foot pole, or even a six-foot Canadian, LOL, although I've made a little bit of money with it in the past...
