My Gram had a hissy fit in her fifties to gather the family around her and the Dr. called it a heart attack. She lived to 93,and never did another days work again in her life. I myself would rather keep you as my model.

My paternal grandmother was determined to do her own thing for as long as she could as well.

The trouble with the written word is that sometimes I forget

you can't see or hear the tongue-in-cheekiness I commented with.

I know, from your many posts over the years, that you have a marvelous relationship with your sons! And I am pretty sure they would get joy from doing things for you rather than have you take unnecessary risks in high-risk weather, for instance.

By the way, I saw something very like your chicken hat recently.  Silly people, they called it a pot-holder.

Don't worry, Mom, you did not "out" your boys as lazy or unhelpful...

I've read so many accolades you've written about them here, and they're the good guys. Like you, I have to put my foot down to save my independence at times - it is wonderful to have that to deal with, since so many seasoned folk are totally neglected. It would be good if none of us had to be out there in the deadly cold but could hibernate in our warm caves until spring thaw.

Same with me Taps folks say 'you should not be out in the cold this weather.' Not as though it is very cold here at the moment.  Alright out in the wet without a hat on .

When one has always done one's thing I'll admit to give it up is painful. I know you have some of the best sons one could wish for. You can show them that last bit.
