Good thinking Ciel. No I confess I am not familiar with that line of Irish Lords, I will ask Arthur he seems to have done or read most things although he is more like a hermit these days.I have just asked Arthur and he said he thought it was based on German mythology, but he said he will look it up tonight on his Chrome Book.

Have you ever had an old jumper that you never throw away Pat. I think inertia is probably the factor in a way and their original purpose.

There's always something melancholic about abandoned dolls...And I guess you're giving us a contemporary form of Milton's Paradise Lost...

It seems that there is something going around on both sides of the pond...We do not know what we have until it is gone.

Old dolls can be valuable. I gave my walking doll to my Granddaughter some years ago.

I had several dollies similar to that years ago. When I got too old to feel a need for them any longer, I gave them to my little sister. I assume they are below the sod by this time.

If you've had the dolls for a long time, they may be collectors' items
and if you put them up for sale, you could find the dolls a new home and have a bit of cash to help out with some new earmuffs or a heater for your greenhouse...

Maybe such dolls could be donated where they will end up
in some child's hands?
Your poem makes me wonder, did you ever read the works of Lord Dunsany? He was one of the fantasists that inspired Tolkien in the next generation.
