I am sure he could get a  device to keep them away Taps. Perhaps a keen dog, I suppose in the old days a wild goose would be the making of a meal after it had fattened itself up. Very handy a bit of goose grease.

Geese are like that. They seem to have a great deal of faith in their own importance. LOL.

That is interesting reading about your neighbor...I, too, am sure that the geese will be back.

I can just see that sight now but sounds cruel to me to chase geese around with sticks, but I guess it could be worse they could be using guns

From what I understand, those Canadian geese can be persnickety and persistent! I think they were just having some fun with 'the humans,' and will definitely be back . . .

There was a similar Canada goose problem in Olympia

around Capitol Lake, the main problem being the quantity of guano they produced which was a major factor in making the lake unuseable, recreationally.  I don't remember what the rational was for not shooting a few.  And in Washington State, you cannot hunt deer with your vehicle.  Roadkill is collected by the authorities, and donated to Wolf Haven, in Tenino.

i like the part about the huddle... their minds put together seemed to have worked at least temporarily. i agree about providing food for the hungry. hunting laws can be so ridiculous. i heard on cbs sunday morning that there are more wild animals in this country than in the days of columbus. quite an unbelievable fact that is. here in rural iowa we really have to watch for deer crossing especially at dusk and dawn. they say if you hit one with your car not to swerve but just keep on driving. on my ride to the psych hospital on thanksgivng one big buck crossed our path as the sheriff's took my down to be cared for.

At times I've wondered why we don't harvest the excess

Canada geese to feed people, the homeless and unemployed, etc. They get to be a nuisance once they move into the neighborhood around small lakes, although I'm sure there's some benefit from the fertilizing they do.
