Re:
That may be true, Annicita, but one thing confuses me. I would think that anyone possessing a 'low-attention span' would have even greater difficulty in following and understanding the images flashing before their eyes! Having the topic ( or in this case, the plot ) jump around is one thing. But when you're trying to have some discernment of the sequences of an action scene, and you're only given literally a half a second to see something, how can anyone follow that? What's the point?

It is indeed, Trusted! I just wish that someone, just once, would view a few movies from the '40's and '50's, and see how a movie is supposed to be made! The last decently made movie that I thoroughly enjoyed was called The Illusionist, with Edward Norton and Jessica Biel. Very well made, and a terrific story . . .

I get your point, Naut, and agree about the 'trailers.'
And the advertisements for the movies are even worse than the movies themselves! Half the time I have no idea what the heck I'm seeing . . .

Re: JimmyA
You couldn't have picked a better one, Bill, as far as movies or actors! Claude Rains was an extremely talented and versatile actor, especially in his day, and his role in Casablanca was no exception! Somehow I get the feeling you agree with me . . .

Well, lustor, this really wasn't an endorsement one way or the other as far as the Ironman movies go. It really could have been any of today's movies, because that's how many of them are shot and edited! It's just happened to be this one. But my example, and analogy, still stand. I like the old black & whites better . . .

I can't disagree, C C T. My eldest brother believes it stemmed from the MTV generation, where many of the band's videos were shot helter-skelter, with a lot of cuts and quick editing, and now almost everyone in Hollywood somehow believes that's the way everything should be shot or edited! I honestly don't know anyone who truly enjoys it . . .

I wonder too, FSI. It doesn't seem all that difficult to be able to slow down the action a bit and still relay the same emotions. I don't think my wife and I have been to a movie theater in probably three years . . .

Really, Sir Wiley? I hope you had the occasion to have a drink with either Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre or Sidney Greenstreet! At the very least, if you got even a glimpse of Bergman . . .

Those, Kabu, are two very good choices, and alternatives, to watching some of the bad recent movies! More time on the computer, more time in real books, and more time watching the old black & whites. Now that's a plan . . .

I only watch (bits of) 'action movies' when I am forced to sit through the trailers before seeing the movie I want to see! (Why do they call them trailers? If they really were trailers, they'd come after the movie I want to watch, and I wouldn't have to suffer through them, LOL)! I feel about action movies the way some people feel about opera, LOL...

TSuch a black and white classic film like Casablanca’s awesome. Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and Claude Rains makes for an awesome watching experience. I’ve written a film analysis paper on character actors, using Claude Rains in the film as the example Jimmy. BC-A, Bill's R®st

Not much emotion Jimmy although to be honest there is not much visual entertainment that I can stand these days. It is all too much crash and smash for effect, probably for the young, I don't know.

I, too, feel that movies are not as good now as they were then. I wonder if the quality will ever pick up again.

Well, I am so glad that I kept away from that Trilogy. We are finding it more and more difficult to find a movie to watch from today's era. i spend more and more time on my computer and with my nose in a real book with real pages.
