It's worth it to pay directors of charities well

if they bring in a lot of money

Re: Re: Re: Kabu

Good thinking Kabu pity you had not put them in the porch. be careful of the paint fumes. I always use water based paint especially when painting fresh curtains on the windows.

  Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do , I saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Re: Pat

Yes, although the best time to accept the offer is when one is 21, but it never seems to happen then. I do not know which is worse lost love or tough love?

Re: jimmy

Sure Jimmy, I thought at the time, when he told me what had happened,. Smokey old chap you should have just accepted it, even the ones who benefited said they were surprised that he had not received anything. Having said that his mate was a sort of abrupt kind of man, I expect he just  took Smokey at face value

Re: Wiley

Sadly he probably thought friendship was enough Bro, but everybody likes the concrete feeling of lasting appreciation.

Re: Kabu

What do you mean love six swain ? She was 92. Yes the silly old chap is always talking
about how much you can give away to his grandchildren. His mother was the same though she would not buy a new suite of furniture because she said she had got too old to get the use out of it.

Re: CCT

Yes I couldn't make many eyes laugh these days Naut. Thank goodness Smokey does  not need the money if he had taken an annuity out now it would have been a different ball game.

Love those roses - I needed a reminder of summer...And I guess Smokey Joe's pride did him in, LOL...And you could do worse than making a beautiful girl's eyes laugh...

I will keep that in mind for if/when someone puts me into their will...Keeping those feelings bottled up can be very difficult.

i suppose that she was too young for a love sick swain in your poem...I am glad that smokey took the coat and so can be warm because this is proving to be such a really cold winter.

ChiffChaff

Unfortunate for Smokey, he shouldn't have talked so quickly. Seemed to me the man tried to do one last good thing for someone before he died Bro.

I assume Smokey was just being somewhat polite when he told his friend not to worry about leaving him anything. But if he did indeed refuse his friend's generosity, then I guess he has no one to blame but himself. Perhaps he should have responded "Do whatever you'd like, but I won't be angry or upset if you do forget me." In that way, there's probably a better chance that his friend would have left him something. Would it have been millions . . . ?

Another of your "lost love" poems. I do see the actors you describe

and find the endings so wistful.  Good advice; anybody says they're leaving me something wonderful in their will, I'll cross my fingers I outlast them.
