Re: BC-A and Good Friday

Confusing isn't it? As a Christian you call the day your Saviour was crucified Good Friday. What was good about that? I would have thought the Resurrection was good and Good Sunday would be a more appropriate term. As for 'black' the only good connotation it has, is when you refer to your account moving out of of a negative balance.

Setaki

YWhen I was a child Black Friday was called the Day after Thanksgiving. There were normal ads for sales in the newspapers. My mother and I went to Downtown Newark, visited Santa Claus and my aunt and her best friend in Bamberger’s, went to lunch, and bought the toys that I asked her for that Santa would bring down from the attic closet on Christmas Eve. I was told that Santa decorated the basement recreation room during December. Merit in belief in Santa Claus notwithstanding, did it sound, look, and feel like a Black Friday? BC-A, Bill’s R®ST

Re: Re: New blog by Setaki

i am much pleased to read this dear friend from across the oceans but brought close with the Internet...and you are right of course...people tweet and take pictures that quickly go viral. Because I am a Dinosaur I forget that.

Well, anything is possible. I have seen videos of unusal animal pairings, two creatures who, normally in nature, are mortal enemies, but strike up bizarre friendships. And the "before & after" of Mandela's passing makes sense. It was the same thing here 50 years ago after John F. Kennedy's passing . . .

Re: The mis-education of TAPS

I am glad you find my posts to be enjoyable education(with no exams to write afterwards) and arty, just remember to have fun and be aware that most of the stuff is in any case tongue-in the cheek.

Re: New blog by Setaki

You will soon enjoy a brand new blog designed to transport you effortlessly to this beautifull land of South Africa, where there is never a dull moment and its colourful peoples; colourful in more than one sense of the word. As for the mass media, they are fighting a losing battle with so many amateur filmmakers out there ready with I-Pads and Cellphones to provide the world with instant un-edited visuals on You-Tube about events. What you get is what you see.Or is it the other way round? Cheers.

Setaki

I certainly hope you will continue to blog with us - your posts have been thoughtful, interesting and entertaining! About Nelson Mandela, I will simply 'plagiarize' shamelessly what I wrote the day we found out he had passed away: "Rest in Peace, Nelson Mandela! You had my unreserved admiration! Your life and your smile brightened this world, and you will live in our memories"...

PS we need a new bolg to start. Your views and art and stories are really an experience for us. A way to learn and to bring us all closer into the World community, not just what the mass media wish us to know.

I hope you are not leaving us altogether, Setaki.  I would hate to see that happen!  I am deeply saddened by the death of Mr. Mandela.  I pray for his family, and for the people of South Africa.

This has been a very educational blog, and enjoyable with all of the art.  I hope you will begin another similar blog since this one is ending.
