CCT

Neat! I don't think we've got any Holly trees around here - the winters are too cold, pity...

Nice specimen. Had one like that in my little home in Seattle,

it was the afternoon gathering place for all the sparrows in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, hundreds of them dishing the latest news for half an hour, like old folks at McDonalds gathering for the morning coffee klatch. They they took off in all directions - sparrows and seniors both, come to think of it.

Re: Justi

It does keep trying to shoot plain green from the roots as the variegated ones are usually grafted from more vigorous root stock.

Re: Ciel

Ciel they are a lifesaver in very hard weather for certain birds, but I have never seen one as pretty as that one. Ours are mostly brown and black. What a long link.

Re: Kabu

Funny I suppose it is too hot in some countries, I would have thought the emigrants  might have  brought one over.

Re: Simone

It usually retains its berries until January and then the hungry birds work their way down from up North and feed.

When Son #3 lived in Portland, Oregon, they had a holly tree that was absolutely gorgeous.  It was tall as the two-story house.  It was so pretty, I took cuttings and packed them in a suitcase to bring home to decorate.  They sure could prick you though.
This one is so pretty.

A pretty, variegated holly tree, at that!

For a while I lived in a house that had a holly grove, and one holly grew up the front of the house--two storeys--and at the season of berries, it was hopping with cedar waxwings, a very elegant looking little bird, crested like a blue jay, but with tawny and grey coloring.

wow... now, that's a link!  I don't get credit for this photo, just for the impressive link.
