That looks like a wonderful place. And yeah, sometimes simply gritting your teeth and letting others ramble on is probably the best way to avoid an argument or a confrontation. Always try to take the high road . . .

That's a remarkable design, and I'm sure they built in excellent acoustics! And I had heard of the book your friend Richard was going on about and decided I wasn't interested in having a Muslim tell me about Jesus...In that context, I recently came across a documentary which suggested the possibility, based on some documentary evidence, that Mary Magdalen was actually Jesus' wife...

nice picture. I agree with you that if someone is on a roll with w belief, don't waste energy arguing. They are not listening, except to themselves.

No place for anyone who fears falling!
And no place to go, wearing wobbly high heels!
Many of the early biblical books that contained stories of Jesus, especially in boyhood, were deemed apocryphal by, I think, the Council of Nicea, which, as a group of powerful men, had their own agendas and interpretations. I haven't read the book Richard is reading, but I do understand why some people sometimes look beyond what was included in the New Testament.
I'm delighted your guests were delighted! I just put a basketful of baskets down at the Wooly Works, the yarn shop where the knittin' women meet once a week. (We also crochet, and have two guys in the group.)

What a spectacular auditorium... I'll bet the acoustics are wonderful.
As for your friend who spouts chapter and verse from the new big thing author - gird your loins. There'll be another book and another way of looking at things coming next year...
